1 - Tapping carby spacer Do you reckon I would be right to drill a 11/32 (9mm) hole (to tap 1/8 NPT thread to be specific) in the carb spacer shown in the two pics below? (I think the spacer is 14mm thick but might only be 11mm). I'm not sure what the spacer is made of so not sure how well it would work. It's not under boost, it's pre-supercharger. ![]() . ![]() 2 - Wiper wiring Here is a pic I found online of a wiper motor that is the same as I have. It has only three connections ("1", "2" and "E"). ![]() The wiring diagram and loom/harness appear to be for a different type of wiper motor, so I found a wiring diagram online below. I am assuming I just use one of the harness wires from "1" on the wiper motor to the wiper switch so the switch grounds the wire to turn it on. Is that right? ![]() |

1. that spacer is a fibrous insulating type material (phenolic?). It mightn't cut a clean thread. You can however drill it and araldite a tube into it. |

Another idea would be instead of 1/8 fitting just use appropriate size pipe with thread tapped on it and use aradite as thread lock . I've done this as idle up on a/c kits using SU's. |

You can buy them from minispares etc with a tapped hole http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... |Back%20to |

timmy201 wrote: You can buy them from minispares etc with a tapped hole Thanks Timmy I saw those but those are much thinner spacers and the hole I need to tap is wider than the spacer http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... |Back%20to ![]() |

As in use araldite to hold a pre-tapped pipe? It does seem like a good idea to tap the thread in the pipe before I araldite it in place. I think that's the route I'll take. |

as for the wiper motor, yes, you're right - 1. should be the ignition 12v through a switch, and 2. should be either ignition or permanent 12v, depends whether you want the wipers to park or stay put when you turn the ignition off. They're usually ignition |

Hi Morbo, I have fitted 2 HP Performance/Link Automotive Supercharger kits, and have drilled and tapped this 1/2" thick spacer with 1/8 NPT for the brake boosters on both of them with out any problems. Just make sure you drill exactly in the centre as you only have around 2mm either side. I've had my one running like this for over 8 years now. Your kit looks very similar to theirs, where is yours from? |

Hi sc - my kit is also from Hans at HP ![]() I'd love to know any info or advice from your experience with the kits given the length of time you've lived with it...I'm running 8.9psi, with the engine specs built to suit the charger. Any tuning tips? How did your gearbox hold up? (I'm running std helical gears and drop gears on a 4 synchro rod change and Quaife diff). Did the kits meet your expectations? Any pics or a build thread? My build thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=86822 PM or reply here is welcome ![]() |
