I've had an issue with acceleration lately. When I put my foot down on the trottle the engine tends to choke up a little before it actually starts to accelerate. Its mostly just frustrating however I'd like to fix it. I have recently done a service, including filing the points and cleaning the spark plugs. I have also noticed a slight miss when idling, and was wondering if this would affect my acceleration. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it is carburetor related. What carbs are you running?

If SU check your dashpot oil. If it's hesitating at acceleration that means the piston moves up too quickly so may need thicker oil. Instead of stomping on the pedal, accelerate gradually and see if it does the same thing. If it only happens when you stomp on it suddenly then it's dashpot oil thickness (or lack of). But alas I am no SU wizard... it could be 1000 other things

Idle sounds like it's running too lean maybe? Maybe related issues

When you were cleaning the points, did you get the vacuum advance to the dizzy back together properly?
