Hi,

Finally pulled my finger out and getting stuck into my garage ornament..... i mean the mini.

First problem is the motor felt hard to turn so pulled the head off and unfortunately found water sitting in No3 bore.

now the motor is a A+ bored to 1360 (90 thou) and i was under the impression i would have an overbore left (114 thou) but apparently the motor machinist is saying thats not the case and the block is toast. I can feel a little ridge in the cylinder wall so im guessing thats too much.

So the question is ..... what now?

Im lead to believe 1275 blocks are hard to come by. What is a person who doesnt have a stash of 1275 blocks to do???

Thanks
Richard

Can you get it sleeved? I believe some Metro 1275 blocks came from the factory already sleeved. Most alloy blocks run iron sleeves in them.

Oh thanks Timmy Matt has quite a stash doesnt he! Haha!

Slide, Yeah the machinist said he can sleeve it down to factory bore but that doesnt do it for me.

I did however do some searching and some said to sleeve that one cylinder and then bore that to 73.5mm to match the others. Will have to talk to the guy and see what he thinks of it.

I was also going to collect the block and take it to GR as hes the one that did the bore in the first place and also the head, cam and other stuff and honestly i trust his judgement more that this guy.

But it would be good to have a fresh block. Thanks Timmy.

I would find an A series block and bore that instead. They are better for big bores than A+ ones. More about here too. $400 should find a good one with main caps.

A+ rods are a pretty good rod
you can bore to 74mm
i have 3x blocks here cleaned up at 74mm

2x of my own personal motors are at 74.7mm :-)

GR will set you straight with your block tho
