Post subject: | Clubman Doorskin Replacement |
Hey Guys, So the next part of my project are the doors. Its a 77 Clubman S and the doors have rusted out behind the Hinges. I knot that door skins are not available for them anymore and i would rather not replace the whole door... My question is.... is there a way to modify a particular replacement skin to fit to my existing door? Any tips / tricks would be massively appreciated, |

Mini King use to have new old stock clubman door skins a while back. I think I still have a couple but not sure if both sides or just one. Difficulty with clubman doors is the door handle and lock holes as I think they are unique to Australian clubmans. Cheers Rod |

yeah no luck with mini King. I was wondering if any other skins would fit? I could essentially use a cutting tool to attempt cutting correct openings... Would be difficult tho i expect.. The passenger side is by far the worst. Driers side on further investigation is more than saveable. Cheers Nick |

Can you just weld in some patches or are they too far gone? |

I am not sure how different clubman door skins are from earlier minis since the basic profile of the cars were all the same. So could you fit an 850 skin to the frame and modify the door handle opening as you say? They are still available. I have recently used an 850 skin on my mk 1 restoration and it doesn't need much modification to fit. |

Goldbrocade_62 wrote: If you have a couple of dollars http://minisport.com.au/mini-clubman-la ... ock-2-only I didn't mean the door shell, I meant 850 (mk 1) door skin which is $215 genuine and $145 non-gen. The price of the complete door shell isn't cheap, but they are available and the cost of a panelbeater to repair the rust will not be cheap either. Letting in a repair section needs some skill and equipment. |

Have you tried Perth Mini Drivers on facebook ??, you will likely find some good second hand doors , also a good source for any other parts you may require. Mal |

Have tried Perth mini driers, no reply's as of yet, but always seems to be busier on the weekends. I may try and patch them, nothing to loose really and fairly handy with the welder, obviously just a little cautions about warping the shin, not much holding that panel in place. Would rather re-skin the door. Was looking at the 850 skin, it looks like the hancle was up fairly high, would probably need to patch this... im surprised there are no new after market skins available for the Aussie built Clubmans... Seems they are getting harder and harder to find these days |

Hi Nick I have 2 doors on the rust bucket (76 spare parts mini) that you can have for free. I'm not sure if they are any better than yours but I can send you some pics if you like. Cheers Eiles |

Mini Car Clinic are long gone. Mine were pitted bad behind the hinges. I brazed them up 10 years ago with nickel bronze. Still good. |

Fairly sure I have a pair of NOS door skins, will be a couple of days before I can check. |
