Looking to repaint my original front Morris Cooper (S) badge which has lost all colour so is all chrome now.

Even the pics from the brochure posts don't show if the area that the Ox is on is black or just plain chrome.

Would anyone know for sure? Have searched and there are some with black behind the red ox and some are plain chrome......

Thanks in advance....

Thanks Lillee!

Could find a pic that big and clear and some of the pics may have shown the reflection of the background making the ox surround look black.

Off to the hobby shop tomorrow......

Mine has the large circular section behind the bull painted black. Lost a lot of red on the bull as you can see. The star pattern around the circle does not have any paint in them, although it sometimes looks like they do in some photos.

I can't say mine is 100% original, but can only assume it is especially given it's condition.

cheers

Sorry to say that it is definitely not original, nor is the "S" or its position on the Bonnet.
Assuming of course that it is a cooper s. Either way it doesn't really matter :D

What makes you say the main badge is not original? It's true the "s" is not the right shape.

I didn't think they had any black around the emblem but interested in others thoughts.

Note that the in the newer repo badges (like the one lillee has shown) the ox has put on weight!!

Just repainted my badge as there was no colour on it at all except a little red outline of the Ox.

Used Humbrol Black Satin 85, Red Satin 174, and the only blue close to original was Blue metallic 52

It looks better in real life than the picture.....

Looks good. I have a repro one on my car at the moment and the fat OX stands out.
My car came with a NOS original one and I left it off until its next rebuild.

Thanks,

Appreciate the support!

Bought a superfine paintbrush from the hobby shop with the paint and used a magnifying headband thingy and cotton buds and turps to wipe off any mistakes. Took about 30 minutes.

Probably the best resto job I've done so far...if only everything else was as quick and easy!

I am well aware that the S is not original, and would like to know why anyone would think the Morris Cooper badge is not original. Your thoughts please.

I am tempted to paint my emblem, but think the aged look goes well with the worn out look of my car.

Good paint job on yours BBY755 and many thanks for the tips and colour codes.

cheers

Your Badge is an original one but the black paint around the OX is not. Maybe someone has painted that over the past 40 years to make it look cool or tuff.
