Has anyone used the carb balancer and colour tune? Are they easy to use and have good results? |

I have only used a colortune. I have used it on the mini to tune both carbs at idle and also on a quad carb setup on my ute at idle. Works well as my portable AFR gauge doesn't work too well at idle. Definitely worth the money. |

I bought the colortune and the carbalancer Brilliant Set the idle on both carbs with the balancer and then do the fuel mixture with the colortune |

I bought both and also have had the cars running well with them. Be advised that if your engine is burning oil for any reason, the colourtune won't give an accurate reading so you should also use the piston pin lifting method to help......ask me how I know..... |

Make sure you get the 14mm one for mini spark plugs, but I would assume the mini part suppliers would offer this version...... Piston lifting is where you raise the carby piston pin up slightly while car is running. If the engine stalls, the mixture is too weak, and if the revs rise and stay up, mixture too rich. If revs rise slightly and then settle back to normal, mixture should be correct. (this is from memory....please correct me if arse about....) This allowed me get the mixture correct on that carb because no matter how lean I made the mixture, as it was burning oil on that cylinder, the flame was always orange - indicating too rich. Should be able to find tuning tips with a search ..... |

Also, with the carbalancer, made an adapter for the carbs with a cheap plastic funnel so just popped it over the body of the carb to get the airtight seal. I think you need to take a part off the carby to use the carbalancer from the box unless I got the wrong model..... |

Mine fit's perfect just remove the filter and I get a good reading from both carbs got mine from minisport |

when I had twins, I got a carb balancer and found I couldn't get it nearly as good as with the tube-in-the-ear trick - the white rubber tube however was just right for my ear.... that and it does need a flat surface to seal so if you have a standard type filter housing you're stuffed |
