Hi everyone, Got my wheels changed today (had 6x10, now back to 5x10). After picking it up from the tyre shop it quite obviously pulled to the left when you let go of the wheel. It has a fully adjustable front and rear end. Does it seem normal that it would need a wheel alignment after going to a different wheel? I'm fine if it would need setting up again but as long as the tyre place hasn't damaged any suspension/steering components. Cheers james |

It wouldn't hurt to get a wheel alignment. If those 10x5's are older style wheels like Contessas, they are not true or even very round. I have one wheel that is ever so slightly oval! |

I got new genuine minilite. I would hope that they are pretty true ! |

Did you use your old tyres on the new rims? |

if it's not the tyre pressures, then there's probably something like a change in offset moving the scrub radius to something else and thus being more effected by the caster and some other thing that makes sense to someone other than me... |

Have you rotated the wheels around left to right? It may sound weird but also check the usual suspects. Bent tie bar, Steering arm bolts, Rack U bolts, Tie rod ends, Worn steering rack etc. |

Only 300Kms? still that could be enough to scrub the tyres in to the wheel old settings and now track left with the different geometry? |

I had the same issue when I had put used tyres that were still good on my mini. Went and got a wheel alignment but kept veering off the road. The fellas at the shop said not to worry about paying for the alignment as they couldn't fix it...... They aligned it for me there was more tread on one or my front tyres then the other which would seem like my alignment was out swapped the wheels to two even threaded tyres and it was fine |

I would get it aligned and find out for certain what the problem is |

Thanks everyone. I called my mini mechanic (who also set up my suspension) and asked his opinion. As said above, he also seems to think it's worn tread making the car seemed misaligned, rather than the alignment being wrong. I think I will rotate the tyres as suggested and see what happens. |

So when I'm off work tomorrow I will swap the rims around and see if it's tyre wear... I thought about it and these tyres have done much more than 300kms.. Probably more like 1500.. woops. If it turns out to be wear.. would it be better to leave as is (pulling to left) so they can wear more evenly on that side. Or have them so they track straighter? Cheers |

If they veer left, at the wrong time (wet road say) you could be in a world of hurt...can you swap the rears to the front?? (assuming they have worn better) |
