Post subject:  Installing Autotecnica Seats

I'm looking at installing new seats in the front of my mark 1 mini, I'm looking at these:

Has anyone installed Autotecnica seats in their mini? Did you have any problems? I have tilt mechanisms for the seats, am I better off using clubman seat bases and slide mechanisms?

If by clubman you mean mini clubman, then no, mini seats can't be separated from their bases/slides like newer cars

you're best off looking at what seat subframes are available from autotechnica and mounting those in the mini, preferably using the original mounting points

I put autotechnica seats onto Cobra seat subframes, it wasn't too hard.
They are in Laingy's Clubby van. Nice seats.

I looked at the Cobra subframes, they look good but they are pretty expensive :(

I thought it was like faux leather (fake)

I have autotechnicas in both my cars (87 rover and 68 deluxe) on slightly modified cobra seat frames.
Pretty easy.
:D

I like their low back seat, but can't seem to find a price for it on their site.

I'm keen to see what the high back seats are like for width when installed, the seat I have in my car is too wide and rubs on the B pillar, but I can't move it any further towards the passenger side - very annoying

I'm not keen on low back 'sports' seats, if you're going to put a non-standard seat in, put something in that'll give you some shoulder and neck support

I'm looking at these seat bases:

They are pretty expensive, is there anywhere else in Australia that sells universal seat bases to suit a mini?

It seems that's the going rate for these. They are a quality base. You get what you pay for

That's the reason i put Cobra "Clubmans" in my car , i didn't like the idea of no head/ neck support from the standard seats or the Cobra "Classics".

The only downside to them is rear seat access , the tops of the seats when rolled forward touch the roof , i can live with that , They are a fairly snug fit though .
