Post subject:  M35 starter motor pinion assembly

Today I'm going to install a 2nd hand pinion from Oz on a mates starter motor here in Bali. I didn't bring my workshop manual with me and for the life of me I can't remember if the pinion should be assembled dry or with antiseize/ oil? Can someone enlighten me please. I hope the ring gear is not too chewed up...

Thanks

Michael

Put the pinion assembly on the shaft, then lubricate the bendix spline with graphite powder.

if you can't find some, just scribble a HB pencil on some emery paper and wipe it on - same stuff

Or just clean and dry the shaft. No lube required.
