Today I'm going to install a 2nd hand pinion from Oz on a mates starter motor here in Bali. I didn't bring my workshop manual with me and for the life of me I can't remember if the pinion should be assembled dry or with antiseize/ oil? Can someone enlighten me please. I hope the ring gear is not too chewed up... Thanks Michael |

Put the pinion assembly on the shaft, then lubricate the bendix spline with graphite powder. |

if you can't find some, just scribble a HB pencil on some emery paper and wipe it on - same stuff |

Or just clean and dry the shaft. No lube required. |
