Got some fluid in the suspension and wheels back on. Now to get it back home and start on the body.

It is a nice position - I brought my MKI home yesterday coloured on the inside, boot and engine bay, outside primed and in guide coat in readiness to assemble all mechanicals. No wheels at this stage - still sitting on the trolley.
It makes you feel like that progress is finally made.

Yes! It does feel like I've accomplished something. Paint & panel is a bit daunting though.

I'm curious why you are assembling all the mechanicals before getting the exterior finished. Are you wanting to get it on subframes and wheels?

I originally stripped it down in Charters Towers at my brothers place, because of lack of space at my place. Since then the body has been getting new front panel, sills, battery box etc at a Charters Towers panel shop. I brought everything back to Townsville and got my workshop organised. We were going to move to north of Brissy, so I wanted the body on wheels and motor assembled for the shift, but that plan is on hold until real estate prices improve. Just started retirement, so the project is on the move again.

Originally I was going to paint the whole car before assembling the mechanicals however the person painting the car strongly suggested I change plan and assemble before paint. Most people I have spoken to lately have adopted the assemble before paint in case any damage is sustained which can be rectified before applying the final colour.
