Yes thats for a single carb application
But what about a twin setup

I'd guess that one of them is an AUD 679 from a mini and the other carb is from something else. Not a problem running two different ID carbs, as long as all the parts are the same.

Twin SU kits normally had L and R

That's the only reference to AUD 679 on the main SU website - a single HS4. Google seems to show it's a single carb as well.

Do both carbys in the set have ID tags? They should be marked with the same ID number and then L or R. If there's no L or R then it's for a single carby application. Maybe it's a twin set made from two single carbys?

Edit: timmy201 beat me to it. :|

Here are the numbers for the "Special Tuning" HS4 carbs. Not sure what spec the Aussie police cars had Winabbey?
AUD 224 L & R
AUD 640 L & R
AUD 709 L & R

AUD 488

The spec was put together by Sydney-sider Bill Bressington (Fabre, SU Midel) especially for SPO41 cars. AUD 488 is not listed in the SU catalogue or on their website but I managed to get a copy of the spec sheet from their archive. It's headed NSW POLICE.

The manifold number seems to be for a factory twin HS2 manifold, although they were able to be modified to take the HS4 pair.

Just because they are left and right it doesn't necessarily mean they are a pair. The left one might come from a mini and the right from a Morris 1100 or Marina or anything else.

Just remember the spec tag only refers to how the carb left the SU factory (needle, spring, etc) so if they have been changed since then the tag is no longer relevant. As long as the pair are the same spec they should be ok.

The police manifold is AEG573 and modified as per this post for police use.

Carbs should have the CCV hoses as per this thread
