Hi just wondering if you can get the capillary on a dual water and oil gauge repaired and approx how much something like that might cost?

I had one done a few years back by a friends dad, still cost about $100 odd as you have to replace the ether (? not sure but i think its ether and I can't be bothered to search it, cause i'm lazy like that.) He did a good job though. Used to work at the instrument on pacific highway near Pymble when it was still there.

Thanks for the recommendation Doug.
We try to undertake all instrument related jobs and obviously i pay attention when something from a mini arrives.
We do capillary temp gauges each thursday.
I try to avoid discussing the cost of repairs without seeing a job as i feel after 45 years of continual growth we must be in the ballpark but here goes.
The base cost for a refill is $137.50 plus parts.
If it is complete there is generally only a pin for a few bucks.
A new line adds $30-$50 approx. we clean and service the two mechanisms
We have bezels dials and glass and plate and paint if required.
We also have new gauges for $195- depending on spec as we have a few different styles beyond the standard one that most people have.
We have a new 52mm Smiths Tachometer and i sent a photo to thomen yesterday morning of this.
He also asked about the RVI tacho conversion for elec ign.
We do them but if people are price sensitive and have the tools to roll a bezel ( and a new bezel as the original ones from the 60's invariably split) and the ability to test and service the meter movement that benifits from a damping mod we do then buying a cheap circuit on the net might suffice.
Its not the most tidy install but does the job I assume.

Thanks Rodger most appreciated! I've heard nothing but good things! I think in this instance it might be best for the me to sell the one I have for parts and buy another new.. I heard you were trialling your own dvi to dvc chip?

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.
