I need to strip a thin layer of etch primer off a bare mini shell (inside out and under side), doors , bonnet and boot. I have access to a blasting set up and I want to use glass media. Has anyone blasted a mini here? How many kilos of media did you use? I have two options for buying the glass media, - Buy a 1 Ton bag of crushed recycled glass - Buy 25 Kilo bags of media The recycled glass is the most economical option but if it is far too much I don't want to be stuck with it, also it comes in one big bag making it hard to shift. |

Will you been able to try and reuse the media? Using tarps on the floor to catch, and then sieving the media can save a lot of waste. Some primers come off with thinners and a quick wipe of a rag, have you tried that? I used a small sandblaster to blast most of the corners/seams/crevices of Susanna and I went through about four buckets of Garnet, but I was reusing what I could catch. I much preferred using paint stripper on any flat panel sections, then a quick scuff with 180 grit paper before priming |

Thanks for your reply Andrew. I have thought about using solvent or paint stripper. I might give that a go first. I have some surface rust to deal with too so that's why I was looking at blasting. |

Hi all I'm new here.Just starting on my first mini I bought as a rolling shell. I bought 500 kg of glass bead to clean up the whole thing.i sealed up an area of the garage to do it,and away we go, I used about 300 kg but was a bit wasteful (lazy) to clean up properly, and reckon I probably threw away about 100kg or more. Way e |

Single pack etch should just wipe off with a bit of general purpose paint thinners |
