What morris was fitted with a 12G940 head that didn't have the thermostat bypass pipe fitting drilled and tapped

Some Rover and MG Metro A+ motors in the 80s and 90s had none. But they had a bypass via a sandwich plate under the thermostat.
All A series motors here and in UK had the bypass hose head fitting but many people block them off.
If doing this you should drill one or two 3mm holes in the thermostat.

most modern cars just have a bleed hole at the thermostat
This head looks like you can drill and tap for this bypass fitting to keep it looking original
My plan is to restrict the fitting so the flow is less

I make a brass fitting, they last forever, unlike the iron or steel originals...
