It know it is listed as a 68 Mk1, however it looks to me like one of the very first Mk2's with some of the Mk1 features? If it is, does the Mk1 plate belong to this car? Is this one of the cross over Mk1's to Mk2 (with a Mk1 build plate) or is it just a bitsa?

How does he stop that spare wheel from falling out?

originally Sandown red, now painted Baltic blue.
Original red can still be seen on underside of doors
But won't be seen anywhere on the body?

I would call it a fake. It is a Mk1 plate stuck on a K (or Mk2) body.

I though it might have been an early Mk2 which would not have had a plate, but someone had put a plate on it to prove it as a genuine car? However, the body and engine number are very late Mk1?

It is a fairly late Mk1 number but I have photos of the ID plates of cars made a couple of months later and none of them use a Mini K bodyshell.

YKG2S2 5129 was probably delivered 4/69.
My S is 50 cars earlier and was delivered 3/69.

My mk1 S has 1/69 on the wiper motor, no alternator, Lockheed brake booster and body number 5407, engine number 51252. I think this car may be mk1 but has been modified?

The shell is a K or Mk2.

What is the giveaway Morris 1100 to it being a K or Mk2?

looks like it sits lower and to the right compared to most other Mk1 S's I have photos of.

The problem with this one is it is stuck on a Mk2 shell.

You can't stick it in the right spot, the captive nut for the Mk2 dash is in the way.
