Time for another question if i may
My car has a slight clunk in the right front suspension
it happens after i have braked to a stop and then go to take off
Now the whole front end including CV joints have been replaced/Rebuilt
The only thing i can think of is some possible play in the ball joints as they have bedded in as when i had the front end apart to replace the hydro bag they seems a bit on the sloppy side
If any of you have experienced this please let me know what the cause was
Its only very slightly annoying to me at the moment

Have you checked that all the subframe mount bolts are tight?

I had a Mini Van years ago and one day my Wife said to me I am scared to drive that van any more as it is making a loud bang when i come to a stop. I took it for a drive and heard the bang. I stopped and had a look under the drivers seat and found a tin pf peas had fallen out from her shopping and was rolling around the floor near the battery behind the seat hitting against the cross member the seats are bolted to. Problem fixed.

Check your front tie bar bushes - I had very similar symptoms on my car recently, all of a sudden was getting a clunk. They tie bar bushes had disintegrated and chunks had fallen off, causing metal to metal contact between the tie bar and subframe - they would only move when the car changed acceleration - i.e. going over a bump, accelerating, braking etc.

Very easy to replace yourself.

Can you replicate the noise by holding the brakes on lightly and letting the clutch out a bit to load up the suspension. While still holding the brakes on, slip it into reverse and let the clutch back out to reverse the load on the suspension.

I drove a mini once that did that exactly as descrobed- turned out to be a loose ball joint.
Best to just lift the front end and have a good look over it.

The tie bar bushes are fine
Went for another drive today and hit the brakes hard and accelerated and never heard a thing
So maybe the ball joint
Still open to others findings including a screw in the ash tray

What about dry knuckle joints, maybe even rubbed through to the metal. Spray some crc between the joint to see if it goes away. If it does, that may well be your problem.

what's the end float on the top arm like?

Worn spline on the drive coupling and drive shaft can cause the problem you are describing.
Also CV to drive flange spline worn or loose.
