I would be looking at your Carby and float bowl for flooding
and make sure you find out what it is before you drive it again

Hi gang Bit hopeless. Been away for a while and came back and started the mini up. She went fine but as I pulled away I noticed a large puddle where I'd parked. Popped the bonnet and petrol was pouring out of the hose in the pic. It was dangling loose in the engine bay, and seems like it should be attached somewhere? Any help or thoughts please!!!! Not sure if someone was playing silly buggers while I was gone and pulled the hose |

Thanks very much. Easy to just unscrew the float cap and have a look? Total novice here but the carb was replaced and setup just a few months ago, and I've never had a problem. I assume the fact that it has been sitting unused for a few weeks has something to do with it? |

Yes...but have a rag under it to catch fuel, screws and the gasket...if float is jammed or full of fuel, that could be your problem. I would also remove the damper, and stick my finger down the carby throat and gently lift and drop the piston to see if it can rise and fall smoothly... |

Guess I got lucky and scored at least a temporary fix by tapping the float chamber with a screwdriver a bit. All fine now, maybe just got stuck after sitting for a few weeks? Or a sign a clean is needed not far off? |

If you haven't got one, fit a filter just before the carb. Might have been a bit of dirt from the fuel line/tank stuck in the float seat. |

Thanks for that - I think there's one there from memory (showing my lack of knowledge here, but I'm learning). If so maybe some carby cleaner in there? |

Lillee wrote: That hose should have a clamp on it?? more to the point that it should actually go SOMEWHERE other than dangling in the engine bay, it's the overflow from the float bowl. It'd normally go to a return line to the fuel tank |
