What steering arms should i be using for a disc brake setup. I have a feeling the ones in the first pic are drum brakes steering arms.

The 2nd pic with the ears on are UK Mk2 arms, really should not be used with Oz steering racks which are Mk1 type.
The 1st pic looks like an Oz 850 or Cooper. Later cars Deluxe on had arms with exactly the same geometry but were thicker.

Wot Doc said....

They (the UK ones with "ears") are a different shape. I have seen them used (successfully) with Oz racks. I think it has something to do with Akermann (sp?) angles at full lock so isn't really critical. Its always wise to use the right bits though....

An Old and Bold (and successful ;) Mini racer told me years ago that they always used the thin arms. If they whacked something hard enough to bend an arm it could be readily replaced. The thicker arm risked the force being transmitted somewhere more critical and so was avoided....

Cheers, Ian
