Has anyone recorded much history on the Ron Flockhart memorial trophy races?

From what I believe they were sponsored by BMC and were only for Minis and Morris 1100?

They were held in honour of Ron Flockhart (Le Mans winner for Jaguar) who was out here racing his early Mini Cooper when he was killed. He crashed his Ex WWII P51 Mustang into the Dandenong Ranges outside Melbourne.

Was the race always held at Sandown? I believe Peter Manton won it quite a number of times in the 1960s.

Love to hear any other history people have on the race. I'm thinking about trying to get a trophy together for the Historic Sandown race meeting for the first Mini home in the Nb races.

Took a while...but another thing Ron seems to have been involved with (according to Brian) was the introduction of the Mini Cooper 8)

QUOTE:
Ron was a real nice guy (as was Jim) and one of the unassuming Le Mans winners. In 1962 he came out to introduce the Mini Cooper to Australia and he drove his race car to all the meetings with his wife. He blew everybody away on the track and then drove the car back again.
