Just remember to take it out of whipper snipper first, otherwise the motor might block pipe.

Chipping away at restoring all the various parts off my car while I wait for the shell resto and the engine rebuild. I have done the hydro bags and was wondering how to tackle cleaning inside the hydro lines. Can it be done, do I just flush with something and see if they are blocked? A search didn't reveal any tips. Cheers. |

While the lines had hydro fluid in them they would have been free of corrosion since the fluid is corrosion resistant and protects metal surfaces very well. The outside of the pipes and connectors tend to corrode in contact with the air - and the presence of hydro fluid on steel parts seems to accelerate corrosion on them when exposed to atmosphere. The pipes are bundy tubing like the brake pipes, made from several protective coatings layered over a steel tube so shouldn't have any serious corrosion or sludge blockages. Push a length of whipper-snipper cord through them and flush with compressed air or garden hose. I've never bothered cleaning the inside. But since your parts have been sitting around, make sure you seal the ends of the pipes to stop mud wasps filling them or skinks getting in and dying. |

If you really think you need to flush them out I reckon hose them out then dry with compressed air would do it... |
