The best way to weld up drill holes in a car panel. Use copper sheet 3mm 40mm150mm.Place this copper sheet under the panel, make sure the copper sheet is level with the underside of the panel. Set MIG welder on a slightly higher setting for 1 mm steel, commence welding the hole from the edge of the hole ,use the trigger on off method. This method is handy for a lot or areas in a vehicle. Check for fire when welding and after. Also the best way to spot weld panels is to use an inverter spot welder 3 phase, they make a beep when the weld is correct ,The older type spot welders have a hard time doing the welds, also the panels must be a close fit ,use double jaw vise grips or self tappers, the holes can be welded later. Remember trial fit all panels I have had to rework the back edge of mini guards to get them to fit correctly. Also. I have had to use a small turn buckle to pull the guards in.Good bonnet gaps look great on a MINI.Don't forget to fit the bonnet and get the back gap correct before welding guards. Copper sheet gets HOT use vise grips to hold P7676 |
