I went to disassembly my differential today and found the cross pin wont come out
And yes i knocked the roll pin out first
It appears to be the sun gear getting jammed on the pin
So was thinking of one of the mini spares cross pin units
Anyway my diff was fitted with thrust type bearings
Whats the consensus with diff bearings
Plain Ball or Angular Contact Thrust
What works best

I like the plain deep groove ones, they remove more easily with a puller.
Cheaper too, you can get good Japanese made ones now.

Cross pin is worthwhile if you intend on using in on tarmac for motorkhanas etc as these type of events are hard on the diff.
But if you're serious about motorkhanas etc, you'd put a LSD in...
If this is a roady, then no you don't need it, but you can put one in if you were ever thinking of doing some kind of motorsport.

Won't make it go faster but if you're putting new bits in, why not put the good ones.

the situation with my diff centre is i cant get the centre pin out due to wear on the shaft or planet gear
So i will have to replace it
So instead of putting a std centre back in i was looking at the cross pin as they are not that dear compared to getting another housing an centre pin gear kit

Scuttlebutt says the Minispares X pin diff is better quality than the Minisport UK one.
But for road use only, a comp diff pin and new spider gears is fine.

Diff pin wear you say? Check this one..

Yes it came out OK.
[edit] It was a competition one, I dunno who from but obviously is not great quality.

WOW that is a bit of wear
i have tried a FBH and an air chisel with no luck
The housing is a bugger to hold in a good position to support it
Cant even put it in the press

I've had a few two piece ones...
Planet gears seem to come our as three of four pieces when it happens.
