They shouldn't as they have one way valves in them. Don't forget rubber mounts, they sound like machine guns when bolted to body.

Can't see having pumps and battery being a problem, especially with the 20+ litres of fuel in there with battery.

A smidgen over 25L per tank I think (5.5 imperial gallons rather than US gallons).

Fuel pump setup looks good. Should be neat too.

Same set up as you're thinking of fitting - these are fitted to my 1968 Fiat 124 coupe Targa rally car and have never been questioned by scrutineers.
I can switch from one to the other with a toggle switch.

I am trying to set up a pair or facet pumps in the boot, for redundancy. Don't want the pumps under the car, because gravel rally and ease of maintenance. Does anyone know if the standard facet pumps will leak back if they have pressure at the outlet, without the pump running? The basic premise is that they will be plumbed into the fuel inlet and outlet, and switching pumps will as simple as swapping the power connector from one to the other. This is the mockup in the boot - the battery cage has been removed and plated over, and I was planning on using this area (with an alloy cover) to mount the pumps. The blue lines represent low pressure feed from the tanks, and the red lines are the high pressure side. Thanks

Could you use a pressure switch and perhaps a timer to change between the two pumps automatically? Ie pump powers up and has say 5 seconds to reach a set pressure before the backup kicks in.

Twin Fuel pumps, and no problems with fuel pressure, etc.

Fuel pumps in boots with battery. Hmmm. Is this legal. I don't think it would get past a RWC.

And modern cars have fuel pumps inside the tank with elect connections at the flange !

The lines are a potential leak hazard but are in the boot with a battery. Have had a fuel pump in a Mazda r100 with a battery for 15 years...never once been knocked back in three states...perfectly legal!

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk I have the long range tank(7.5 gallon) on the passengers side and a 5.5 gallon one on the drivers side...happy with 60 litres sloshing about in the boot...with a battery
