Hi All, I'm trying to fit Gaz shocks to the front end... but the bottom shoulder of the shock fowls the bump stop mount/top arm, I'm guessing its not supposed to fit up close and that there might be a spacer or something I could use, I know that there is a stepped bolt made specifically for this modification but we decided it would be better to drill out the top arms and bump stop to 3/8 and fit a bolt instead. I guess the stepped bolt keeps the shock at the right distance away from top arm? Has anyone made this mod to wet suspension? How did you get around it? any advice appreciated. Thanks. There should be a spacer on the bolt between the shocker and the bumpstop. It is about 1/2 inch long. Latter Mini's had a separate spacer on the bolt. Early ones had a special bolt with spacer built in. |

going by your first photo, it looks like someone has bent it a fair way outwards anyway, it should be tight up against the subframe. The little hole in it should have had a little rubber buffer in it to stop it tapping on the subframe - I don't know if the pad was fitted at the factory, but that's what the hole is for |

I ended up using some thick washers as Simonk did and bent the inner guard seams down... thanks all. |

Hope you dont find the uprated shock too stiff ..its doubling up on the hydroelectric existing shock absorber function...... Cheers, Ian |
