What is the general feeling on forced induction both supercharging and turbocharging for a track car
as far as reliability and performance goes
it willl go bang sooner but would the added performance be worth it what about running at low boost on a well built engine with the right bits

Circuit racing? As a general rule it is not used by regulation. Hill climbs allow it (or used to) in formula libra. Been a long time since I went circuit racing so I am sure there will be more up to date info from others. There was always a conversion factor like for rotaries which pushed a forced induction car into bigger engine classes.

Ben (92) who created the SC12 kit races his mini. I've seen it out for supersprints and I know it's been out to the drags. He's probably done some hillclimbs as well.

I'm supercharging my 1275 and hope to take it out on the track for supersprints and hillclimbs :).

i have had my very modified turbo mini running this way for over 5 years and have never had a serious fault with the engine as such, only the odd head gasket etc but i highly tuned N/A motor will do that too. as far as reliability goes any forced induction motor will be as reliable as a N/A motor if it is built right, tuned right and looked after you should have no problems.

my mini around wakefield was quick for its first time it was ever put on the track and my first time too, but yeah out of corners i get allot of wheel spine but once i got traction i was pulling away from all others.

So wat your saying is that If you had a stock 998 and it had a clean healthy history, there wouldnt be any other engine mods needed apart from the kit and sc12.

Well the compression ratio will be dependant on the sort of boost you will be running.
6-7 pounds max-ish thru my 8.5:1 1132 :)
