Anyone heard about or used this stuff before?

http://www.phoenixpaints.com.au/m_04_01.html

Was quoted $46 including postage for 1 litre. Aussie made which is good. The fact that it handles high temperatures also interests me, both for doing my rusty extractors and for the fact that I'm going to be welding near some of the treated areas.

POR-15 goes for $66 by comparison (without postage I think).

From the product info sheet I just noticed:

Quote:
Do not apply METALFIX over lightly or non-rusted surfaces, since the paint will attack the steelwork and this can lead to rust staining through the final paint film.

Which could kill it for me.

never heard of it....which is funny because the website says this:

Looks pretty good though on face value.

Looks like that guy didn't bother with a top coat.

Thinking about it some more, I was planning on using it for inside sills, the crossmember, and for the floor, so bleading through a top coat would not really be an issue.

I can't remember the name but when I was up home my dad had some stuff similar to this stuff that you painted on after various steps, if the area had patches that weren't rusted then you could wipe the stuff off with a damp rag so that it left only the rusted areas treated. After which you could prime and paint it as normal....

I can try to find out the name if you like. (remind me if I forget) I came in a little bottle but you didn't need much, I think it had to be painted on by brush though.

I used it for inside my sils when I had them off. But I reckon I will put some fish oil in there too just to be sure.
