What is the correct ride height for the Australian Cooper S with hyro suspension.
I understand there is a factory measurement to set the car at the correct height.

The Scientific Publications/Gregory'sbook says 12 3/8 inches at front. The factory book says 12 5/16 inches (vertically) from wheel centre to wheel arch. Being hydro, you can set it wherever you prefer. Lower gives slightly better handling and higher gives softer ride.
I set height using 2 fingers held together then pushing them between tyre top and wheel arch. Judging how far in you can move your fingers gives a very accurate comparison side to side. The rear ride height can't be adjusted separately without removing the rear struts and shortening them as needed.

Yes I also use two fingers for the front height but don't cut the rear struts as you cant replace them. Proper fix is to install a washer between ball foot and front trumpet

I like to see the driveshafts close to horizontal, and trim the height accordingly.
Not sure if this theory is correct though.
However, I do know the plastic ball foot cups in the arms need to be in good nick.

They are within BMC General Data specifications and therefore always slightly too large to reach any component needing attention on a mini.
