Anybody know how?

Don't want to destroy the very nice buckle trying!

If you are talking the generic BMC chrome buckles then I place a screwdriver in these 2 spots and lever it open.
The metal is more flexible than it looks. Putting them back in I just push on the bent ends and they flatten back out.
I have done a few and never had an issue. See what others do first before going ahead.

I have not done the earlier "Star Brand" Black buckles.

Looks the go as the other end is bent over and clipped in. Also saw on Youtube a similar type of buckle but the explanation of how to open was vague, but sounds like it was mean to be what you showed.

Nothing like a good picture as well!

I love using pictures, Maybe because I am lazy and hate typing.

Not sure how pedantic you want to be. The originals had a raised/embossed rosette. There is a bit in this thread on the BMC stickers and phillb was playing with the embossing. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=78502&start=45

I got a few from iansmini67.
