Im in the middle of changing carbies from matic to moke. extractors (LCB) come in two parts: the main manifold off the head and the little short connecting bit to the intermediate pipe. i cant get these two apart i dont have an oxywelder to heat one part up are there anyways to get these apart? btw the set is still in the engine bay, manifold nuts off its just jiggling around in there i tried WD40, jacking up the car, yanking no avail ![]() |

You don't need oxy, an LPG heating torch or blowlamp would do it.. ~$40 for a cheapie at Bunnings etc. ![]() |

how did you go mate? I have one of those small oxy torches that Kev mentioned. Very handy thing!! I 'altered' my exhaust with it, so it's fits nicely under JAM ![]() |

As mentioned a bit of heat - if you already have a gas bottle (lights portable barbie etc) all you need is the blow torch attachment. Also get one of those rubber(?) grip spanners from the plumbing section at the hardware. They have a red handle and a strap that goes around what ever you want to grip and locks back into the handle - great for oil filters as well - about $12 |

i bought myself a little butane blow torch and heated up the bottom section of the extractors as quickly as possible and tapped the thing but nothing. without an engine crane, is it possibly to undo the steady bar, undo the engine mounts, move the engine to remove the extractors, safely? (and hopefully put everything back) |

[/quote A little torch won't do it. Have you got a big BBQ bottle? If so buy a big heating torch and hook it up to that. First heat it up and then quickly quench it with water. The sudden expansion/contraction will break the rust. |

hmmm sounds like a good idea, but i had enough trouble with the little handheld torch getting under the jacked up car a bbq torch would be so handy in the garage ill look into it but it looks like the motor will come out for the exxies. thanks! |
