I am fitting a new headlining and was wondering what the purpose is for the horrible itchy felt stuff that is stuck to the underside of the roof? Surely it can't be soundproofing?!?

what sound do you try to block that comes through the roof?, or is it just there to deaden the echo in the cabin??

EDIT:> How do you glue anything updise down? That's defying gravity!

I wonder though whether the heat that your roof absorbs would melt certain glue types and you would then be left with sound deadening material resting on your roof lining?

How easy is it to change the roof lining. Thats my next weekend's job, and I was just wondering how you were finding it...

Also does anyone know of "heat absorbtion" stuff (maybe its called insulation.. I dunno) that you can also put up there..?? Might help with the summer period and having no air con to keep me cool... 8)
