Howdy, After looking and a multitude of engine bay images and workshop manuals I can't seem to find a heater unit similar to mine. I'm wanting to get the motor running well and the cooling system flushed and cleaned before removing the motor for engine bay painting. Mostly so I have a better idea of the motor condition prior to removing as it could be out of the car for a while. It hasn't been run for many years. Anyway. The heater unit is old and rusty so I'd like to remove it. However, I'm a bit confused about the origin of the heater. There is also some extra plumbing I haven't seen on anyone else's car. Do most classic minis not have a heater unit? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers, Matt |

Your heater was standard on Minimatic and optional on late Deluxe. The only other Minis that got a heater standard then were Cooper and Cooper S. The Minimatic heater has no fan but I added a 3" Attwood bilge blower into the ducting. |

These were standard on some mini's, mini-matic's had them I think as additional engine cooling. (?)They were also option from dealer, had no fan, just relied in air coming in front. You can fit 12v computer fan in hose, out of sight but will help keep your toes warm in traffic by drawing air in. Take it out, dismantle (easy),sand blast and nice coat of satin black, flush core and remove bugs from fins, replate hardware and refoam door seal. I think they had a sticker on them. Should look brand new. |

They are a piece of cake to refurbish as they are just a steel box. Pull the core out and flush it, strip and paint the panels, and replace the foam seal on the flap door. These things are great in hot weather- they act as an aux radiator as there is no water tap. Temp into car is adjusted off-cold-warm-hot(ter) by air mixing. edit typo |
