I have just changed from hydro To dry using an adjustable kit. I have had to wind the rear out a long way to get a reasonable ride height. The rubber cones are old, what is the ride height for the rear. The front is using newer cones and is wound right down but still higher than the rear (engine out). Do I need new cones or should I buy coil springs.

Maybe you should worry about the ride height AFTER you put you engine in. I suspect it will affect the height both front & rear.

+1 on that, the engine is a really big passenger, wait till he's in.

Did think of that for the front but didn't think it would have a big effect on the rear. Thanks for the advice I will wait till engine in before worrying about it.

Maybe an idea to buy new rubber donuts? 40 year old rubber has become very hard and will affect you Ride height and Ride quality. I have new rubber donuts and with the high lows they are wound out about 3 turns each side at the rear and 2 at the front. And yes the car will sit very high with no engine in

I am tossing up between new donuts or springs. Any suggestions?

With the motor out, you could place some wood across the subframe and place approx 50 house bricks in the engine compartment. This is the approx weight of engine and gearbox. Roll it up and down your driveway a few times and let the suspension settle a few days. Should give you an approx ride height.

By the way, it's much easier putting new cones in with the engine out. Easier to get the top arms and the pivots out.

Great idea...avg brick is 3-3.5 Kg, so 40-50 of em would be a good replacement...3 by 50 litre drums of water would do the same...
