Thats up to the individual restorer, usually you strip the vechicle, do the body, paint the reassemble & rebuild the stuff as you go. Well thats how i di it anyway.

First choose how far you would like to go with the shell. There are 2 options. 1 - Leave it on it's subframe and strip the rest (so it's still rolling). 2 - Strip shell completely, and put the shell on to a box frame with wheels.

Fix up shell rust/dents then paint.

Fix up subframes, suspension and brakes, refit.

Do whatever to the engine/gearbox and put back in.

Do the interior.

That's prolly the way i'd do it. 8)

It would help if you gave us some idea of the current condition of the body....if the car is is a goer then the first thing I would do is remove the battery :!:

If you can't see the ground thats a very good start :D

Then you can decide the order you want to do things....

if it has a brilliant motor, gearbox, driveshafts, brakes and hubs, you could think about leaving them as is and working on the body alone. ...

I am restoring my '77 Clubman LS and as it still registed I have been working to getting it past roadworthy. Goes in next Tuesday for that.

Once it does get past, I then intend to take off the old vinyl roof, rub it all down and then get the car resprayed and then new vinyl on the roof.

After that I intend to strip out the inside, get new door covers made, all the seats reupholstered, new roof lining, new soundproofing underlay and new carpets as well as a new dash, maybe a nice woodgrain one.

Later on I hope to put some disc brakes on it as well.

As the mechanical side of the car seem ok I will leave that part until last where I hope to rebuild the motor, getting it rebored, balanced and blueprinted but that is still some time away yet.
