Hi guys,
Does anyone know if a Morris 1100s motor will fit in a mini?

trim the front engine plate { front engine mount in morrie 1100} check the diff ratio, std 1100 is 4.2ish {I think} the gearbox extension housing is different to a mini one, slightly longer and has a sandwich plate { not a tasty treat} between box and shift housing. stick a mini radiator and shroud on it and welcome to the big bore club.

silly question this... but how much do you need to trim off?

Cut the mount brackets off, or trim it to Mini shape. Use oxy or angle grinder.
It's just for clearance.

If you keep the 1100S diff housing make sure you get the remote gear change linkage too from the 1100 as it bolts to the diff housing differently to a Mini one due to the rubber sandwich plate. I have this in my van and it works fine.

Re the rubber sandwich plate, you can burn the rubber out and weld a steel strip in between to make it solid. Like Mini remote feel then.

Such great info Dr Mini.
What would the benefits be of the 1100 S motor over a mini 1275?

Morris 1100S motor is much the same as any other non S 1275.
But note the gearbox is only 3 synchro, and parts are getting scarcer for these.
Most people put the 1100S onto a Mini K remote box, or a rodchange one. Both are 4 synchro.

there is no difference, therefore no other benefit. They're cheap and easier to get cos there were a lot more of them made.... If you can buy one, buy it...

I've had an 1100S motor in my cars since 1995 - I say cars because I've moved the same motor from car to car, and I say the same motor because it's the same crank, but I think I've had 4 different blocks

No sideplates in an 1100S. One less place to leak!

Also, are they only a 9 stud head not 11 stud?

well, yeah, but only S motors had an 11 stud head standard, 1275LS, Californian Mokes, Rovers etc. had 9 stud heads

but that doesn't matter one little bit, and it can easily be changed with a drill...

I'm thinking it will go on a mini K with the manual rod changer box.

I have an 1100S on a 22G1128 (4 synchro) box.
I changed the original 4.13:1 diff for a 2.95:1 and it is now an amazing highway cruising machine, but still has reasonable acceleration.
