Before I rebuild a gearbox for my 1966 Cooper S number 1707, can any one out there enlighten me further to make sure I have the correct gearbox case this time please? It has casting number "Q" then "22G 333" It has the serial "12FA 6748" stamped into the raised part of the casting on the right side. Please feel free to comment, - I do like feedback! |

Thankyou for asking this question as I wish to know for my 66 S too. The 12G333 boxes I come across tend to be stamped R then a number. Someone somewhere along the line (Steve O'Malley from memory) said these were early morris 1100 boxes. So I watch with keen interest. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk |

I am still rebuilding a '66 S No. 1197. Its gearbox is also "Q 22G333" and serial No. 12FA6096 1275cc, 3.44 diff, rubber universal joints and vertical oil cooler. The car and gearbox numbers are both about 500-600 apart which would accord with the story that the power units arrived in Aust in batches from UK. |
