Hi guys

Just wondering if I could please have some help identifying the date of an 850.

It is body number 59214, Toga White in colour.

Given its date, should it have holes in the gutters, and a 'narrow' bootlid?

Cheers
Will

That would be 1965, so should have holes in gutters and narrow bootlid. Do you have the engine no. out of interest?

This is the closest I can get for you. Gong off these numbers yours would be around a Nov/Dec 1965.
YMA2S1 55833, 8YUH 16198, Sold 31.12.64
YMA2S1 60401, 8YUH 22859, Sold 04.04.66

Thanks Brad.

Wow - I honestly didn't think they were sold in Aus this late!

Any idea when they ceased sales?

I am waiting for a photograph of the front valance but given its lateness I would anticipate to see the 'brake duct' shaped front panel.

The last couple of sales would have slowly dribbled through 1966. The Morris-Minor (850cc) took over after that.

The car 60401 mentioned above is in the last couple hundred cars made. I'm guessing they were harder to sell when the Deluxe came out in 1965!

The brake cutouts were late 1964

Build date would be March 65 - all these details are contained in my book Australian Mini & Moke - 1961 to 1982

I was only going off sale dates from the passports to service. I have no idea if these cars sat around for 6 months before sold.

Mine is no. 60499. Early 1966, I think you said, John?

Cheers,
Gav.
