A walnut style accessory dash was in my car when I bought it.
Normally the stainless steel trim is removed from the lower rail. Then per side 2 small holes are drilled in the top edge of the lower dash rail and the under side of the upper rail. Small 90 degree brackets then secure the timber from behind.
The screws used were quite small. My screw holes are barely noticeable and almost covered by the reinstalled stainless trim.
EDIT: actually reading the BMC instruction I now remember there were vertical timber blocks that fitted at the far ends also that the panels fitted against.
