I've just picked up an early 850 shell with original matching number engine.
Car # 102997/10966. Engine # 8AM/U/H/292646.
It has an early alloy tappet cover from what appears to be a Mini 850 Sport.
That tappet cover could obviously been a later add-on, but ...?
Any ID ideas from anyone?
Regards. Adrian.

Most of the ones i have seen had a chrome rocker cover and large sticker at the front like this.

However they could supply a finned rocker cover for less than 6 pounds. See this thread. viewtopic.php?t=59365

Can you post a photo of the finned rocker cover you have?

It's not the alloy rocker cover that displays "Sports" is it?

Those Oz made rocker covers were pretty common, I run the same except it has 'special' on it.

Thanks for the info. I am picking mine to be 1964.
Given that mine has higher numbers, that would appear to be about right - the wiper motor says 64 and the boot catch has a 4 in the number.

Regardzzzz. Adrian

With an Aussie car number of 10966, it is a 1962 build.

By 1964 they were up in the 40,000 range
