Hi all Still having a few issues with the clubby. Hoping someone might have experienced the same problem and might offer some advice. I'm planning to take it to local mini mechanic for a thorough going over but getting it there is the difficult bit. History: Have had some dirty fuel issues recently which ended up blocking the fuel pump so installed a new pump and cleaned out the fuel tank and lines. Now have good flow through filter to carby so thought problem was sorted but, today, we couldn't get the engine to run smoothly on start up at all. We tightened the distributor mounting bolts and adjusted the points which smoothed it right out. Once on the road, however, the mini began to hesitate after about 5 or so seconds then just cut out completely. It would restart but then the same thing happened - kangaroo hopping down the street is not a good look ![]() This is what what has been done in the past few weeks: New mechanical fuel pump. Cleaned fuel tank Replaced fuel hoses Replaced fuel filter (before carby) New leads New spark plugs Checked fuel vent pipe Checked fuel pipe Installed electronic ignition but then stuffed it up when trying to wire up tacho (back to points now) Any help on what I could check or replace would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eiles |

might be an obvious question, but have you cleaned the float bowl out? |

Check the hose on the carby main jet, they can swell shut when old or with bad fuel. Fit a genuine SU one. I was told aftermarket fuel miser ones are not rated for unleaded fuel. Mine swelled shut after filling up at Caltex once. Barely got me home. A new jet fixed it. |

checking that the fuel bowl is filling properly and stays full while the engine is running would be a smart move (if you can)take it for a drive and turn the ignition off as soon as it starts to hesitate, and check how much fuel is in the float bowl |

After checking items as advised I gave up and called the RAC ![]() Worked out very well as the mechanic they sent out used to race minis in 'the old days' so he managed to get it going after adjusting the timing and fuel/air mixture. Phew |
