Hi Guy's, Can anyone advise on whether Bumper Bars ordered from the UK will arrive well enough packed not to be damaged by couriers etc.
I know there is always the chance of damage but in general has anyone any experience.
Thanks in advance

My experience was good. The items arrived in a DHL branded carton right-sized for the contents.

Obvious question - do none of the Australian Mini parts suppliers have what you want at an acceptable price?

I mention this because they will go out of business if they don't get sufficient sales. Most, if not all, will be selling exactly the same items you are probably wanting to order from the UK.

Didn't realise that so many suppliers were around.

I have purchased lots from SA suppliers in the past and will in the future but in this case I calculated a saving of over $400 (not including freight) compared with UK prices including freight on the parts I ordered.

Make sure you include all the import costs, duties and taxes. I'm not familiar with the current regime but others on here have discussed it at length. I seem to remember AUD$1000 was the magic number, above which various cost add-ons applied.

Can someone knowledgeable make a comment on the current situation with GST and duty, etc.?

I did consider that and GST was added to personal imports over $1000. Not sure if the proposal to add it to all personal imports no matter the cost was introduce on 1 July 2017 or not. but when you include 10% GST its still viable. Admittedly I don't know if the Courier companies add an admin cost as i don't order much from overseas. I prefer to refurbish the original parts where i can.

$1000 limit still applies, until July 2018 I think. Was going to end last month but they found it too hard.

I'd be surprised if it ever comes about.

I recently bought a pair of Mini Spares DPB10166 bars from a Sydney supplier for $127 each.
Mini Spares quote 50 pounds each which would be far more that the local price including freight.

Do you pay the 17.5% VAT on purchases from the U.K. or is that waived?

Any shipments out of the EU are VAT exempt.

Mini sport SA current price for DPB 10166 is $185 plus freight. I need the stainless steel cooper S bars including over riders $595 plus freight for front and rear.

No Vat applicable on overseas orders

Mini Kingdom Online is great to deal with and very fair when it comes to prices.
