Post subject:  Autotecnica seats

Hi All,

Has anyone fitted these Autotecnica seats to their Mini http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Low-Back-PU- ... Ciid%253A1

If you have Id like to hear from you please.
How do they fit?
Are they an easy install?
What else is required?
Pros & cons
Other recommendations without spending $800 plus

Thanks in advance

No direct experience, but I have heard they are better than Cobras. Cobra foam is minimal to begin with in the back rest, and foam in all parts of the seat disintegrates in to yellow dust pretty quick...

I have them in my car. Easy to fit, reasonably comfy, but don't get ones with a high side bolster on the base of you'll get leg cramps gause you don't dit straight.

Matt I,

Thanks...yes I've heard that about Cobra seats, disintegrating foam   !

Harley,

Thanks for that... did you have to modify them to fit? do you still need the original Mini seat base/frame?

I don't have them, but my opinion is that if you're going for aftermarket seats, get something with a headrest...

Mine are on Cobra seat frames. I just made a sandwich plate to go between to change from one bolt pattern to another.

Just modified some lowback AutoTechnica seat runners to fit, I welded 2 lugs to front of runners and put a flat bar across the back with a pair of RS components adjustable feet.
Pics tomorrow.
Runner spacing is close to that of the Mini brackets, so no front bar needed.

Seats feel as good as my repadded Cobra classics.

Pic of frame, not yet painted. Adjustable feet are M10 ones 81mm long from RS Components. You can use the 101mm long ones for more tilt adjustment.

Sitting in my car to check, not bolted in. Pic with seat right back. There is heaps of travel.

I have to say, the instruction sheet they come with is worse than useless. But they seem pretty well made.

[edit] I just took one for a drive, they are not bad for comfort but are not as wide as Cobra Classics.
So if you are `broad of beam' they are probably not for you. ;)

These are the autotecnicas that DrMini made the seat frames for.

After doing about 600k's in them already, they are starting to bed in very nicely and becoming nice and comfy.

As Kevin mentioned above, they are quite narrow so that's something to consider too.

But for half the price of cobras, I'd highly recommend.

Cheers,
James

Anyone after a pair of these should look at mydeal.com.au. Good price and free shipping (see conditions) . No affiliation to site etc etc . Just bought some.
