We recently ran my engine on the workshop floor simply by sitting the whole unit on a piece of rubber conveyor belt - worked very sucessfully

They are a very stable engine to run sitting on the ground.
Is their a reason you cant use a subframe with some legs mounted under it?
Another option is I have made many 500x500mm frames with decent castor wheels under them for my engines. Very easy to move around the shed and decently stable.
