One of the guys at Minisport In Adelaide has a Bathurst mini. Not sure if it was a winner though.

Hi guys, yes I have tried to track down many of these cars but my focus has been on the better known cars or drivers. The problem is these cars were standard road cars and their racing past was undesirable for re-sale so unless they continued as a racer, their past was usually hidden from perspective buyers. CAMS only came up with log books in 1967 and initially they were not compulsory until 68. I have come across a few cars I suspect have been period race cars, including one that displayed evidence of the rare factory "Castrol racing Green", but without a lineage of ownership dating back to the races, its impossible to prove.

My advice if you are interested in chasing one down......start at the beginning. Speak with the owner/driver and work forward. You will be surprised how much information you can gather. The Keeffe/Olsen car which later did another 2 Bathursts in the hands of Caroline O'Shannesey was still in Caroline's garage when I acquired it. Also the John Lord WD40 car was with John until 2007. The Manton car was still with one of his mechanics since the early 70's until last year. The Hopkirk car had been with Irene since the 70's (although I had no chance of finding it until she spoke of it on the net) It's slow and meticulous work but worth the reward.....

I have none from 66 Bathurst and only know of 1 that exists and even evidence of that is a little bit difficult to prove. I have seen another that I am pretty sure has all the hallmarks of one of the 66 cars but cant prove it.

I wonder if the national motor racing museum of Bathurst employs someone to hunt down and find past race winning cars. they should hire someone like wayne corini from chasing classic cars.lloyds auction just sold a Bathurst Monaro close to half a million.if the 1966 winning Bathurst cooper s still existed what would it be worth today just for curiosity.

Doubt it...no V8s

However, there is a book currently being written and it may explore that in depth...

In the meantime, there is Mr Stahis excellent work...Bathurst 500 (63-67) Book by Steven C.Stathis
