Hi all

I've removed the left and right drivelines from the drum brake hub / inner pot joint mini deluxe.

ON the bench it looks like: Outer CV Joint---(boot)---Driveshaft---(boot)---Inner Pot Joint

If I grab the outer cv joint and move it round and round like stirring a pot of stew, one side is silky silky smooth at all angles but the other side is super tight beyond 10 degrees (ish) from centre. It's not sandy or crunchy or notchy, just super tight. The cv boot was pierced but no gaping holes or cracks.

The silky smooth joint even droops under it's own weight when held horizontal.

Questions:
A) Which cv joint has the correct running tolerances?
B) which way should the cage sit in the joint (i've got the 2 big cage cutouts facing towards the wheel, the other 4 cutouts are smaller and symmetrical)

Many thanks
