There seems to be a lot of conjecture as to what was paid. I have seen bid price of $78,000 plus 17.5% Buyer's Premium which comes to exactly $91,650, the price paid for the car according to the auction house's website. At the end of the day the buyer has actually had to dig into his pocket for $91,650 to buy a Mk1 Cooper S.. |

At the end of the day, it is only money. Some people have lots of it while others have none. There were obviously two people with lots of money who wanted that car. |

You can see video of the actual auction here (you need to be a Facebook user). The hammer price of $78,000 was from a telephone bidder so could've been located anywhere in the world. https://www.facebook.com/Motorclassica/ ... 602108445/ |

You are of course correct Richard...78K when the hammer came down...I was just highlighting the stupidity of some (Sheik? Chinese? Hopeful Pommie with £53.8K? trying to turn a profit, whatever)...all the Mossgreen folk were very well dressed...what a surprise! ![]() |

Also, jack bag & boot board appear missing in action. Rather ordinary, considering the price, I would have thought. |
