When did the dipper function move from the floor mount to the column mount? Was it when the GT came out or earlier (i.e. late MK II S production)?

My Sept 1970 S has it on the floor.

My Matic is 3/70 and never had it on the floor. No holes for it.

I reckon they stopped the floor dipper switch in Jan 1971 because the clubby heater had no room to put a floor dip switch.

Car 2700 is 11/70 and has the dip switch.

My MK2 is a JUL 70 build, the floor dipper switch is fitted but not connected ( harness terminated) and high beam is on the stalk. Maybe a cross over build.?

Not so. I have that heater (late Mini K's also had them) on my 67 Deluxe. Access to the dip switch is fine. I don't use it for lights though, use it for the fuel pump instead..

My MK2 is AUG '70 and does have the floor dipper switch.

Mozzie: Does the stalk switch on your car operate the "quick flash" facility (as on modern cars) when the head light switch is off, or do you have to turn on the light switch on the dash panel for the stalk switch to control H/L beams?

I thought about replacing the floor switch, but couldn't work out a way of permanently powering the stalk switch to operate the "quick flash" with lights off.

My '70 and '71 Mini K's had the flasher wires on the steering column indicator assembly snipped at the factory. There's a thread somewhere about the reasons why. Neither had the floor dipswitch and both had the clubman type heater. The '71 had those dreadful flip up door handles.
Thinking about it, my car is actually a Deluxe, Mini k, 1275 and Cooper S hybrid! Probably the only Deluxe bit is the body... It wouldn't score any points in an originality contest!

Its good to know that there is still room. Maybe my reasoning was wrong but I still think the changeover date is correct. I am struggling to find a floor dipper switch fitted to an unmolested 1971 car.

Don't know about changeover dates but the column mounted indicator/ lights etc assembly on my Deluxe is from the '70 Mini K (no idea of build date), it had no floor dip switch. To my shame and embarrassment I chopped that car up with a gas axe and put it in the wheelie bin over a period of months. I won't talk about the genuine '65 Cooper I once had...
Hindsight, what was I thinking.... (the ash tray is in the Deluxe, the only thing I kept) :-(

probably not - more likely a previous owner did it - mine is 7/70 as well, it had the floor switch connected when I got it, but the switch crapped itself and melted the wires at one point, so I hooked up the stalk switch & flasher (with relays)

Maybe my '70 K was a very late 70 car? I don't know..
