Okay so i was down at my friendly mini mechanic on Friday and we made up a list that Regency (the ONLY inspectors in SA) could pick up on.

Rear wheel bearings x2 √
Degrease engine, etc √
RHF CV boot split √
RHF Brake hose cracked √
Fit stock wheels √
RH Rack play √
Remove air horns √
Both windscreen nozzles working √
Tail light lenses √
Steering wheel √
Remove harness √
Raise front & rear √
Check seatbelts √
Adjust brakes √
Aircleaner - fit stocko √

So yep.
Thats what i need to do before 11th August, 8AM.

Edit: ticked things off and new happenings - no longer defected

All of this because of some anally retentive officer which was having a bad day and wouldn't know jack schitt about a mini ........... that is crap ...........I think that the officer was worried about all the 10cm tall trolls that you might hit   but seriously how really cares if it is a few cm to low it is the owners problem if they hit a rock that is too high well then it is their problem which they risk

My 20 cents worth

Various cars had them standard, Fiat, Ferrari, Maserati. My Mini has a pair of Fiamms off my old Fiat 124 Sport.
Gives a very nice Ferrari like BLAAAAAAAAAT!
No probs getting them passed each year at rego time.

How willl be doing all this stuff to mini?
Can you do it all?

Hmm
this is a very interesting story Mr William
what happens if you dont go for a fix?
Do 'they' know your car now? And will they come for you if you dont show up there with a better car?

good, defects would be fun

Yea "The night they drove old dixie down, and all the bells were ringing, the night they drove old dixie down and all the fellas were singing, they were na nana na na na na nana nana na........ " funny.

Seriously though I can't see what's the problem is for all ya P platers with rego. The rego before last I was a p plater too and passed with no probs. As long as your car is reasonably presentable and safe it shouldnt be more than 30 minutes to pass it. Never seen a blue slip guy look at the oil leaks or cracked hoses. As long as the car starts every time (or every second time) and is safe to drive and the brakes are working, youre denying them the reason to dig deaper.

RH Rack play

WTF is that? Some bozo fooling technical term? It's not a sexual connotation meaning he wants to play with your rigt hand nipple? Or does it mean a few seconds to tighten up a U bolt on your steering rack?

Chong, If there's play in the RH end of rack either the rack's tie rod end ball is worn, or the Belleville washers in the rack's thrust pad have broken up..

I thought my original 130,000 mile rack was on the way out recently, then I found it was the nut behind the wheel... literally!
Tightened it up and it's sweet. 8)
