Question regarding the circular fresh air vent blank in front of the driver. Is the colour meant to be body colour and was there a rubber seal installed?

Do you mean the 5 inch diameter disc facing into the engine bay with 4 self-tapping screws?.
If so, it was satin black and had a mastic material used to seal it - no rubber gasket/seal.

However, most recently, I used some self-adhesive rubber of the right width and depth to suit the trough on the outside diameter and it worked treat. I was easily able to work it to follow the circumference.

I think I have also done the same with self-adhesive rubber foam.
But... think "Concourse", David! Think "Concourse".

If l'inspecteur general des concours d'elegance is able to see what lies behind the installed blanking plate, then I'll have to cop it.
I'm actually more concerned about his specialist glass-markings interrogator, because there's nothing I can hide there.

To be clear, ultimately I wanted to know the colour before sending the shell down for painting!

Concorse... I don't think so... :oops:

While I'm at it, the colour of the master cylinder base plate?

When I was using thinners on mine to clean it up, it looked like it could have been painted Silver at some stage.
