HI All I have a Cooper S block short motor never been apart engine number 9FXEY56424, can some one tell me what it is and what internals it should have in it as in crank, rods, cam, and balancer. Graham Russell |

OK see If I fail or pass EN16 crank Thick flange block 521 S rods Possible early Clubby GT block and two piece balancer Mark 2 s cam |

Mk2 S motor should have the large journal crank, ***1505A casting No, machined to suit the S centre main bearing width, 1 5/8" big end journals and be tuftrided. The tuftrided crank was one of the "NEW" features of the MK2 engine when the MK2 was released back in May 69. AEG510 pin drive cam, S Rods, thick flange block, don't know re balancer. The one I have had the MK1 balancer but not sure if that was the original. The Clubman GT I have has the later smaller balancer but I have never had the engine in pieces so I don't know what it has inside. |

According to the marque registers that numbered engine is very late MK II Cooper S or more likely one of the last 9FXEY's used in the Clubman GT before the 1200 series was introduced. As such it is possible that all available stock of blocks and ancillaries was being used up so it could have some strange combination of components. Interesting that miniron's MK II engine had the Mark 1 balancer. So what's the answer, GR? |

According to a discussion I had with John Smidt a year or two ago, the MK 2 S from 1969 on all ran an AEG623, EN16T small journal crankshaft. It was tuftrided. I'm not sure if it was cross drilled. |

There is one in my S but im not pulling it down to see if crossdrilled All I know its not an EN40B 8000 revs seems not to have worried it Tis asleep for a while |

Hi all Well it seems that BMC did not care what they had lying around as this one has an EN40B crank MK2 rods MK1 cam and MK1 balancer, all the MK2 cooper S, GT clubman's that I have pulled down have had a MK2 balancer on them. Graham Russell |

Graham Russell Assuming that no one has had their grubby fingers on the engine since it left the factory Graham?...I recall one of my friends in the 1960s used to practically live at Special Tuning and bought everything you could possibly buy...anyone who bought that 997 Cooper was in for a big surprise
