Hey all,

my front suspensions is sagging, so i went to newcastle mini dismantlers. He suggested I install hi-lo's instead of replcing the entire cone.

He quoted me

$180 for two high lows and the little rubber insert that go in the top
$200 to replace the rubber cones.

So $380 all up ... is this a good price or is there cheaper?

if so where (in nsw)?

Lucas

If you want to do the cones on the cheap try to find some 2nd hand ones from the rear, as they have had less wieght on them than the fronts they are in pretty good condition.

the ones I got were $25 each

If you put hilos in it will raise the ride height but it won't make the ride any softer IMO fitting Hilos but not replacing the cones is not really solving the problem...

Another problem can be that the replacement rubber cones don't give an even ride hieght in which case if you put in hilos as well then you could adjust the hilos to compensate.

I didn't bother with the hilos and my ride hieght is good and the ride is much softer now :D

Try Northern Mini Parts, they get their own made up, and used to be the best price in Australia. Not sure how much they are now, but i'd go contact them.

what are hi-lo's?
Are they the adjustable things that sit on your cones and push down on the arms?

I bought a set from the mini wreckers for 55 bucks a pair. (three years ago) And to be honest I was upset at the price as I can make them up (they were just a bolt with some nuts or something from memory.
I will remove mine and make up some more next week and sell them on ebay if they will get 100 bucks a pair!!!

I bought my hi-lo's, 4 new cones plus 4 shocks from Northern Mini Parts (there own brand) and with postage it cost me $995.00. When I got them fitted the hi-lo's needed machining down to fit into the new cones.

Lucus, I'd ring around. Try Padstow and Northern first and also on Ebay.

Love your avatar

Lucas,
I'm not sure where you will get the Hi-Los here as I got mine from UK, but I'd bet my left one that you will get them a lot cheaper if you hunt around.

If its just that the front is sagging and you want to do it on the cheap, you should be able to get a couple of good second hand rubber cones as FHM pointed out. If you want to go new then Karcraft have new cones for just under $110.

Actually that makes me wonder if the ones you have been quoted for are new????

Hope this helps.
Ziff

Just got a quote from KARCRAFT ... $88 for a set of hi-los (front or back, not both)

$88 for a new set of dunlop cones for the front
